The Winter of 1936 by Don L. Hofsommer

National railroad author, historian, and speaker Don L. Hofsommer will present a free program called The Winter of 1936, Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2 pm at the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum. The museum is located at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, 225 10th Street in Boone, Iowa.

Don will present an illustrated Powerpoint, “in person,” program at the museum with a simultaneous ZOOM presentation on the challenges of Iowa railroading during the Winter of 1936. He will cover the challenges railroaders faced, and how this incredibly unusual period affected operations throughout that year.

Don will offer a captivating window into Iowa’s past, with rare photos and information about an unknown time in Iowa’s railroad history. Be sure to see this unique program by one of the nation’s top train authors.
