Speaker Series: Eric Fogg, The Merci Train Comes to Iowa

March 8 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Eric Fogg spent his college summers working on a Class I railroad, and he’s been a railfan ever since. To prove the point, this spring he met his years-long challenge of riding a train in all 50 states. A retired marketing and public relations executive, nowadays you can find him volunteering at the B&SVRR.

On Saturday, March 8 at 2:00 pm, Eric explores the little known story behind the French Gratitude Train. What’s come to be known as the “Merci Train”, it’s an example of everyday people taking time and making the effort to help one another. Whatever happened to the train and those 49 box cars that are now 80 years old? Join us at the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum, or via Zoom to find out.

This program is partially sponsored by Humanities Iowa and the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Please request a Zoom link by contacting the museum.
